Classic Violin Olympus International Competition
The first edition of the Classic Violin Olympus International Competition has officially been launched, as organisers announce that registrations for the event’s pre-selection phase are now open worldwide!
Helmed by Artistic Director Pavel Vernikov, this new competition is promising to shake up the world of classical music, offering an unprecedented experience of the highest level in its quest to find and identify the finest violinists in the world today.
With a staggering prize fund of €310,000, including an astonishing €200,000 First Prize, Classic Violin Olympus also features an exclusive 23-person jury board hand-picked from amongst the conductors and directors of acclaimed orchestras, festivals and concert series. The festival’s programme, meanwhile, has been carefully crafted to allow the most talented violinists to truly show their merit, with a unique six-part process that is designed to test all facets of the competitors’ skillset.
In pursuance of its goal, Classic Violin Olympus has also elected to do away with practically all entry criteria, meaning that, in a first of its kind, this competition will be open to participants of all ages and nationalities, with the only requirement necessary for one to succeed being their musical skill and ability alone.
In a similar vein, this competition also boasts a revolutionary pre-selection process that is specifically designed to give as many violinists as possible in all four corners of the globe the chance to showcase their skills on the biggest stages in the world. Instead of having a single pre-selection event, Classic Violin Olympus will have no fewer than six such contests, with prospective participants having the choice to enrol into any one of these in order to be in with a chance to qualify for the Grand Finale that will be held in Dubai, UAE, between the 22nd and 28th of April, 2025.
Taking place in Tokyo, Vienna, New York, London, Paris, and Tel Aviv, each of these preliminary contests will be judged by their own five-member panel. There will be a total prize fund of €35,000 on offer, while the two top-ranked contestants from each event shall also be given an all-expenses-paid opportunity to take part in the invite-only Grand Finale, which will thus feature a total of 12 musicians, two from each pre-selection contest.
The pre-selection process has already begun, and applications are now open for all talented violinists who are determined to firmly establish their place within the top echelons of the classical music world. Registration deadlines for the different preliminary competitions vary, so be sure to check the details of your preferred contest quickly to avoid missing out on this extraordinary opportunity!
